About
Pi- Let’s Be More Irrational, St. Xavier's Kolkata
Formed in the year 2008 by a second year undergraduate student of the Department of Mathematics, St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, Pi- Let’s Be More Irrational has ever since been the name of the organizing committee of Analytica, the Annual Mathematics Festival organized by the Department.
The significance of the name, Pi-Let’s Be More Irrational, lies in the fact that with the help of basic mathematical tools, ideas that are apparently absurd or irrational can be given a logical stand point; and until and unless an absurd idea is materialized into something useful, it’s tagged as irrational by that community of people who believe in only what they observe rather than in their inherent potentials of creating something out of what appears as nothing! Sadly, this community forms a majority of the population. Since Pi-Let’s Be More Irrational encourages the logical treatment of seemingly illogical ideas, believing in the equivalence of Chaos and Order, it appears to be an organization of Irrationals working for the rationalization of senseless but promising thoughts.
