Abu Muawiyah Ismail Kamdar
Born in Durban, South Africa on 1 September 1986, Abu Muawiyah began his study of Islam at the tender age of thirteen. in 2006, he completed a seven year Islamic scholarship at a local Darul Uloom. In his quest for the truth and authentic Islamic knowledge, Abu Muawiyah continued studying Islam and sat with scholars from a variety of Madhabs and sects. His most notable teacher is Dr Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips. He passed an RPL exam granting him a BA in the Study of Islam from the University of Johanessburg in December 2009 and is currently studying for his BA honors through that university. Abu Muawiyah served as an Arabic and Islamic Studies Educator at Ihsaan Boys College is Durban, South Africa in 2008, and as an English and Social Studies Educator at the Al-Fajr International School in Chennai, India for part of 2009. Abu Muawiyah currently resides in Durban, South Africa with his wife and two sons and serves as a Tutorial Assistant for the Islamic Online University(www.islamiconlineuniversity.com) as well as an online tutor for Muslim youth
