Teaching in the new millennium challenges teachers at all grade levels to engage students in learning for greater depth and meaning.
As a teacher of mathematics, I have always felt the need to provide a visual base for mathematical concept that students are to understand. The question is how to make mathematics visual.
Calculator Designs is the visual approach to teach Algebra and Geometry concepts by creating mathematical designs on a Graphing Calculator using equations of mathematical functions. It helps students to relate between the graphs and their mathematical relations.
Students can create Mickey Mouse, Mc Donald sign, 3D Star, and many more designs on Graphing Calculators using mathematical equations. Students create designs like flags of various countries by shading the area between curves. Linear, quadratic, trigonometric functions, and conic relations or their combinations are used to create designs such as a bridge or a fish. Activities are unique and help students to understand concepts, predict results, and make connections between algebra and geometry.
